The Badger State Science & Engineering Fair (BSSEF) was founded in 2002 to provide an opportunity for Wisconsin high school students to showcase their original research projects. It also provided those students access to the International Science & Engineering Fair. The Wisconsin Science Education Foundation (wisef.org) is the non-profit governing body of BSSEF and consists of a board of directors. Every year BSSEF coordinates an exposition of student research projects in poster session format which includes one-on-one interviews with professional scientists in eight different discipline categories.
In 2018, BSSEF expanded to include a Junior High Fair with a similar poster session experience for students in the sixth to eighth grade age level. BSSEF currently is hosted by four different regional universities on a rotating basis: Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE), Marquette University, University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (UWM), University of Wisconsin-Whitewater (UWW), and Marian University. We are so very grateful for their participation.
BSSEF’s mission is to inspire enthusiasm for science research among Wisconsin students. Please help us share this message by encouraging students to bring their original research projects to the BADGER STATE SCIENCE & ENGINEERING FAIR!
