Junior High Fair

BSSEF hosts a Junior High Fair for students on the same day as the Senior High Fair. Participants follow the same general rules and eligibility requirements as the Senior High Fair but fewer forms are required.

  1. Review the BSSEF JH Standards Form before beginning your research.
  2. Students must be in 6th through 8th grade (or equivalent, as in the case of home schooled students) in any school in Wisconsin.
  3. Students may compete individually or in teams of two or three.
  4. All students must be present during at BSSEF during the interview session. If there are 3 members to a team, then all 3 members must be present for the interview.
  5. No more than 5 projects may compete from the same school.
  6. A $10 per student registration fee is required.
  7. A folding presentation board is required. A 36 inch high table will be provided. Maximum dimensions are:

Depth (front to back): 30 inches or 76 centimeters
Width (side to side): 48 inches or 122 centimeters
Height (floor to top): 108 inches or 274 centimeters

  1. A logbook (traditional or electronic) is required.
  2. A Photograph/Data Use Permission Form is required.
  3. A Project Completion Form is required.
  4. Please complete the Student Interest Form at the bottom of this page.

The First Place Winner is eligible to participate at the national level. The Junior High Fair was previously sponsored by Broadcom Masters, but starting in 2023 the event will become The Thermo Fisher Scientific Junior Innovators Challenge.
